tilthouse

The result of 4 years Design Academy Eindhoven. This was my solution to housing shortage in big cities. Here's a brief description:

To meet the demands and problems of modern life, a new way of living has to be created. In many large cities, there is a shortage of housing accomodation, and because the traditional way of building is not very flexible, a new, fast and effective concept had to be created to solve this problem.

The tilthouse is functional in 2 positions and thereby has an optimal use of space. Almost every object in this house can be put to a different use, depending on the stance. For example after a rotation of 180°, a dining table becomes a suspended bed. The house is space saving and without unnecessary luxury.
The second advantage is the mobility of the house. It had to be designed in such a way that it was easy to transport. As a result, different kinds of people and companies will be able to use it. Above all, people can use it for short stay accomodation, for example to house asylum seekers or students.

What a great design. Very cool to see how you can use the same space double.
I would like to live in there instead of my studenthouse!

But what I was wondering is where you want to locate these tilthouses. In your text you speak about large cities. I don't think there is enough space in the city centres themselves.
Although your concept is great, 100 tilthouses need more space than a traditional block with 100 appartments.
But ofcourse the flexibility is much better in your concept!

True, good point, but actually your remark part of the concept.

Often buildings are demolished, and only after a few years they start building a new one. Because the tilthouse is very movable - 4 units exactly fit on one truck - a park can be set up in just a few days. In that way a tilthouse park can be traveling around the city, or between different cities.
